2012 Growing season is underway in Napa
Harvest is still a long way off but this is where it all starts. The vines are starting to come to life after a winter of dormancy. The buds at this point are very sensitive to extreme cold temperatures. Here you see the newly active buds covered in ice from a sprinkler system. Ironically, the ice warms the buds to protect them from getting below 30 degrees where they will be killed off.
